Another day, another staggering image from #Artemis1. This one was taken right around the moment when the Orion capsule reached its maximum distance from Earth.

Artemis I Flight Day 13: Orion, Earth, and Moon

Where's the familiar "face" on the Moon? This is a different perspective on our satellite, via Artemis I.

You can really see the difference between the far and near sides of the Moon here.

Flight Day 15: Orion's View of the Moon

This one made me laugh. The solar array of the Orion capsule looks like it is slicing Earth in half.

It's like one of those extreme-perspective vacation photos where a tourist pretends they're holding the Eiffel Tower in their hands.

Flight Day 14: Orion's Solar Array Divides Earth and Moon

@coreyspowell “I’m crushing your home!”
@slack2thefuture Exactly! I think about that skit a lot, maybe too much.

@coreyspowell Ok, I need to admit this as I wrote the toot twice and deleted it in shame.

I thought the moon being asynchronous to earth mean it sat behind earth (locked) as we moved around the sun 🙃

I conflated tidal ‘locking’ with the moon not showing its far side to the sun EVER, and didn’t consider that our rotation around the sun would eventually shine light on the moon’s far side.

This gif broke my stupidity. This is my astronomy confession, I request penance.

@joon It's a very common misconception. And there is never any shame in learning something new!
@coreyspowell As Carl Sagan might’ve said: Everyone alive today is in this photo.

O.O The Earth seems like it was in Apollo 17' "blue marble" photo, in 1972
@mhoye
@coreyspowell Truly amazing... thank you for posting.
@samwhitmore I love it when other people are as deeply affected by these images as I am.
@coreyspowell These shots are SO amazing. Thank you for sharing!!
@coreyspowell
Which continents are we seeing in this photo? I'm really struggling to determine which landmass it is :/
