Let’s be clear. There’s no “war on Christmas” and no one is trying to ban saying “merry Christmas.”
Case in point. I'm Muslim. It doesn't offend me when people wish me Merry Christmas. Offensive is when MAGA politicians brandish weapons of war while kids are shot dead in school and claim that's the Christmas spirit.

If you don't get why that's a problem, y'all need Jesus, and common sense.

@QasimRashid For myself - I'm atheist and I enjoy celebrating christmas in a secular way because I like the decor, the cozy, the spending time with family, the gifts. Santa is fun. Rudolph is fun. I don't care about the religion, I care about having fun for a season.

@QasimRashid I suppose you could say I celebrate christmas similar to how the Japanese celebrate it. Nonreligious, a family season, a time for making tasty treats and sharing gifts, wearing dorky sweaters, putting up decor, etc.

@QasimRashid @Spacedad I’m agnostic right now, but kinda leaning toward Buddhism (was raised catholic). I don’t like all of the fake Christmas BS as evidenced by my profile pic. The music annoys me, the lights bother my eyes and ppl are so obviously fake it’s nauseating. They love to use the “reason for the season” while always being the most hateful judgemental hypocrites I’ve ever met

@QasimRashid The "war on Christmas" was always just a fear-mongering talking point of the right. Like the caravan that's coming to take over your suburb, it is a way to rile up uninformed older voters about the pace of change in society.

I don't think I've seen a single progressive or lib say that you can't celebrate christmas. The only thing they've said that I've seen is that we should show respect for all holidays of all cultures during the reason.

But to a privileged bigot, equal respect feels like oppression. And the right wing tabloid press is eager to fearmonger to its audience about that.

@QasimRashid Agreed. Christmas should be a happy time, where people can get together and travel safely without that fear of gun violence. Already Christmas can be a stressful time for many, no one needs the extra stress of worrying about gun violence.

@QasimRashid the "Happy Holidays" was a trend to help non-christians feel welcome and included in the Christmas spirit like every Christmas special claims is a major point of the holiday. It was instantly shouted down by evangelical Christians and supremacists who wanted to draw very clear lines of who is not welcome and Fox uses the "war" to pull the battle in every year and push more "others" out

@QasimRashid Well said. In my opinion, the majority of people of any faith respect each others views and just try to be the best they can whilst honouring Allah/God/ Jehovah. All one and the same creator. I believe in God yet do nit attend any Church myself. I respect everyones right to celebrate their faiths holy days. @QasimRashid Dude. the first Publicized shooting and others weren't DUE To politics, but kids who didn't get the help needed. That has NOTHING to deal with Politics or Christianity. It's just a PROBLEM with the EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I'm Christian and I find MAGA so called Christians offensive. Stuff like their love of weapons used in mass shootings being available to the general public, their love of forcing everyone to live by their rules even at the expense of women's healthcare, and stuff like their racism and anti LGBTQIA+ folk and banning books and violence really annoys me. They really need to get back to basics like love your neighbour.
