Thank you to all who came out today (around 200) to say in no uncertain terms that fascists will never have a place in Naarm/Melbourne that queer communities look after our own, and that we will not be threatened.

About five of the “proud boys” turned up, were shouted down, and ended up being arrested.

@harrym They’ve had quite a history of anti-LGBTQIA+ and that’s what I’ve noticed as a cis het guy. Can only imagine the community having witnessed far more and far worse. I guess with all of Zuckerberg’s fascist mates …

@harrym honestly I was so happy to be there. I think I need to look deeper into my feelings on my gender or sexuality. I felt very comfortable among that group and I reckon that should probably tell me something.

I think I heard that they convinced the council to pay them anyway (?) but I'll leave it to Harry to maybe give better info.

I'll keep a look out regardless and let you know if I find anything.

@MSinapi @Winter that’s the plan, but that’s just for the performance they missed, not for all the extra time and stress they went though. They’ll be losing other gigs from the stress I’m sure.
