Since TFG came down the escalator and began spewing filth, I often think of those who supported Nixon despite his obvious guilt. Then after Watergate they turned against him and pretended they never really supported him.
It is a lot easier for people to be conned than it is for them to admit that they have been conned!
Prosecution is important and necessary. However, it'll only move the needle with maybe 5% to 10% of his supporters.
What's more relevant is convincing the #Republican leadership to move on (by losing elections). Then the #rightwing media will push him to the side and the support will slowly dwindle over time.
@StevenBeschloss For 40+ years Rs have championed corporations, CEOs, and power brokers making deals and taking as much money as they can w/ no guardrails. 2008 still screams loudly. Ketchup declared a vegetable in the 80s. Hurt everyone without discretion.
There was never any accountability. Money is the power and it rules. Why would they be willing to accept responsibility now? It's been a fun free ride and karma isn't immediate.
It was always about owning the libs, the Republican party and the entire right-wing echo chamber had no compunction about who that filthy corrupt messenger would end up being in 2016 even at the expense of a free election which ultimately suffered foreign influence.
