Maybe itโ€™s time to start well-regulating all these militias.
@rudepundit i dont see a 2A right to ammo. Just sayin.

@GottaLaff

They are. The US militias described in the 2nd Amendment, the ones purposed for national defense, were renamed when the Militia Act was updated in 1903. They're now known as The National Guard. Fairly well regulated.

Other militias and private guns can exist, but they should have no protections. It's only the NRA, in my lifetime, that has convinced people otherwise.

@rudepundit ๐Ÿ‘ Definitely imo.
@rudepundit At the time the 2nd Amendment was written, civilian "ranger" militias were busy raiding and exterminating Indian towns and villages (men, women, children, and elderly). Appropriating Indian land and selling it was the biggest industry at the time. [ref. An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States, by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz]

@dbquick @rudepundit The history of civilian militias is rarely one of checking tyrants and more often they do the dirty work of oppressors. e.g. they put down Nat Turner's rebellion, massacred of indigenous people, the KKK, Mussolini's black shirt, Hitler's brown shirts, etc.
@rudepundit An originalist interpretation now gaining traction is that this means we're supposed to regularly throw militia members down a well.
@KagroX @rudepundit Better be a DEEP well. Any word on what the Kola Superdeep Borehole is up to these days?
