I’m kinda losing faith in LastPass. Two jacks in a short period of time. What password manager do you use? Is there something you like better than LastPass? #security
@nobushia either keepass, bitwarden, or self-hosted vaultwarden. Bitwarden does have fill issues on android
@nobushia I use bitwarden. You can self host it if you like.
@nobushia Yeah, lost faith in LastPass a while ago. Switched to Bitwarden last year after a friend's recommendation and so far both the desktop and mobile versions are solid.
@fringemagnet bitwarden thanks for the recommendation I’ll check it out!

@nobushia I don't... I just end up either memorizing or resetting passwords each time I need to get into accounts that I rarely use >.>

@nobushia like I realize that is not a great option either lol

I just have had sketchy feelings about them for awhile and feared something like this would happen.

@nobushia I have a friend who does IT security who's recommended Bitwarden and KeePass to me as I'm working away from physically writing things down since I'm old and old school/don't figure I've got anything people would care about, but I also wanted to enhance my security because *gestures broadly*
KeePass Password Safe

KeePass is a free open source password manager. Passwords can be stored in an encrypted database, which can be unlocked with one master key.

@nobushia Another vote for Bitwarden! Been using it for about a year now and had no problems. It works well cross-platform, which was important to me. I've got it installed on Linux, Android, and browser extensions for FF and Chromium.
@wemic right on. I’ll have a look this evening when I start working on the computer. Thanks!
@nobushia
KeePassXC on computer, KeePassDX on android.
@nobushia bitwarden is fantastic. Switched a while back and never looked back.
@nobushia Having tried most of them at some point, I settled on BitWarden.
@nobushia I use nordpass and I never seen that it had security issues. I don't pay the premium but I only can be logged in one device at time. You can pay premium and the session will not be closed when you login to a new device.

@nobushia

I tried to leave Lastpass a few years ago - their web interface kept having errors, so my account is still active, but only at the free tier. Point is - they suck.

Moved to #BitWarden a few years ago. Also use #KeePassXC for local-only data and important business log ins.

Related: my #security recs are:

* use both local and internet managers

* use different browsers for different needs. 1 for business, another for day-to-day stuff, for example.

@nobushia Bitwarden is well liked among the community, and you can self host it too if that's your sort of thing, with Vaultwarden.

However, I don't personally use these myself. I was grandfathered into a lifetime plan by my password manager when they turned to a subscription model 😅 But if I had to choose a password manager now, Bitwarden / Vaultwarden would get my vote 👍

Bitwarden
@Jessica It must be great, there have been so many recommendations for it to my initial post! Thanks for the insight and recommendation!
@nobushia personally hosting my vaultwarden, and aside from minor certificate fumbles, I haven’t had any issues.
