Cloudflare tunnels are cool.

Unless there's a global cloudflare outage.

Anyone know of a good email sender/smtp server that I can use for my homelab?

Maybe something free who will send 1,000 emails or less per month?

I still stand by what I said about Cloudflare tunnels but migrating my mastodon server was a true nightmare.

Long post incoming.

It ended up being a few things and had nothing to do with cloudflare tunnels.

The first thing that happened was a redirect issue. This was going on because I opened port 80 and 443, not realizing cloudflare reads rules in order. So, I think what was happening was that I'd visit 80, mastodon server would try to serve 443 at the same time as cloudflare and it would cause a loop. Fixed that by putting 443 first in the tunnel.

But, I kept getting a 502. Thought it was cloudflare. Turns out I totally forgot I wasn't supposed to migrate to a NEW version of mastodon. My old server is running 4.4.7 and I was on 4.5.1. Fixed that.

Now, I finally had something on 443, it was loading. But every time I clicked away, it would throw a network error in mastodon. Outside my account, it just showed a black mastodon logo. Turns out I needed to give the www-data user access to mastodon's home and they needed to join eachother's groups. Super weird, didn't have to do that on my old server. Refreshed and boom, my server was back.

Anyway, it's working now. Best part is, I'm not paying a cloud provider. Totally being served from my homelab without a single port forward. In fact the server was bought at FreeGeek, so it's upcycled hardware/benefits charity. So that's pretty sick. It's a proxied cloudflare IP so no one can see my home IP. All that feels very nice.

Unless you try and host mastodon through it, and it's stuck in an endless redirect.

Anyone smarter than me know what to do?

Cloudflare tunnels are pretty cool.

Added a few $2 items that ended up being $4-$7 in the cart.

My cart was $15.40, checkout said $16.80, and by the time it hit my paypal - $17.07 haha. How? I'm not mad, just impressed.

Aliexpress be like - this item is only $2!!! Act fast, it's the only one of 10,000 left. Special deal! Hurry!

*Adds to cart*

That'll be $27.53

I repel my toxic negative co-workers by being toxic positive so I don't have to talk to them. Does that make me a double agent?

Started to look at the Christmas wishlist and realized - everything on the list is actively being scalped.

I think it'll be giftcards for everything this year. Digital goods might be the only thing I can get.

Can anyone else relate? Having the same problems?
