Please boost if you’re still masking indoors (in public places)

@SarahKite

I am, but only because it makes me less approachable and significantly reduces how often I get trapped into conversations with strangers.

The less Covid thing is just icing on the cake.

@deweyritten @SarahKite interesting. I never thought of that but it probably is an advantage to evade creeps.
@deweyritten @SarahKite
i don't need a mask to be unapproachable and avoid talking to people (strangers or no)
@deweyritten @SarahKite lol you just got a follower. Good post
@deweyritten @SarahKite for real, this is how we should have marketed masking from the beginning.
@pavlovs_mog @deweyritten @SarahKite masking was poorly marketed from the start and politicians refusing to wear then really wrecked the cause and cost so many lives.
@deweyritten @SarahKite I do it for both HEALTH and to avoid small talks. 😎
@deweyritten @SarahKite yes, yes! I’m always masking up in public as it cuts the sexual harassment waaaaayyyyyyy down
@deweyritten @SarahKite
I do it because old age has given me a mean looking mouth, downturned at the corners. The fact I've never had covid is incidental. 😉
@SarahKite Yes, but as one of the only ones I still caught covid.
@TomBagatelle damn, that sucks! other people not masking definitely makes life for the diligent mask wearers so much harder - just a freaking roulette wheel
@TomBagatelle @SarahKite it probably reduced your dose so thankfully, you are still here with us.
@TomBagatelle @SarahKite
Several of my friends have recently caught covid for the 1st time. I think my husband and I are the only ones left who haven't in our circle of friends and family. My husband's also medically vulnerable so we've been more vigilant than most.
@hannahshouse2 @TomBagatelle @SarahKite Keep up the good, hard work. This thing is still taking people out.
@SarahKite Every place. Every time.
@sebastianmalloy 👏👏👏🙌 thank you for your service! 🫡
@SarahKite
I only wear an N95 mask because I’m too lazy to put on makeup.
Definitely not to limit spread. I deny that scurrilous lie completely.
@SarahKite I cannot give myself full credit, however. COVID coming to knock me flat was the true motivation.
@kimlockhartga sorry you got covid clobbered, but glad you’re still masking 💜✊
@SarahKite it cured me of taking any chance of getting it again. I have boxes of N95s and we never eat inside a restaurant anymore.
@kimlockhartga I don’t eat inside restaurants anymore either. It was a real problem a month ago when I was visiting family & they wanted to take me out to dinner, but didn’t want to be too cold on a patio. Convinced them that pizza at home would be fine
@SarahKite @kimlockhartga “We don’t eat indoors outside the house” is our firmest rule. Big disappointment when it meant we couldn’t have dinner with a passing-through family visitor because the weather was so shitty. Sucks, but covid is not something we want.

@shawrd773 @SarahKite It really is worth it to give up something you enjoyed so much, just to avoid permanent organ damage.

This reality timeline is so hard to get used to.

@SarahKite Always, but I also do not spend much time in indoor public places
@Stybba3019 that’s the best way to operate, if you can

@SarahKite I'm very lucky that my work is mostly remote, with only a day or two in the office each month. I'm sure to mask there. I don't eat out much, but that's not a big change from pre-Covid.

I'm vaxxed & boosted so if I am in a situation where I can't avoid an indoor location w/many people & no mask, I'm as protected as I can be.

@SarahKite I don't at work, hockey, or restaurants anymore. I do in public places, stores, airports, etc.
@SarahKite I mask in the classroom, although to be honest its because so many of my kids have colds, the flu, rsv, and stomach bugs, with Covid being just one more thing.
@SarahKite
On public transit, shopping, movie theater. I'm also in a area where most people have been boosted and vaxxed.Have not had COVID yet, although I was exposed recently.
@Sophierose729 I haven’t had covid yet either but so many of my friends & family have. One friend has had it 3 times - got it before the vaccine, then got omicron twice despite being fully vaccinated with the first generation vax
@SarahKite I know a couple of people with multiple infections, they wear masks but work in retail and restaurants.
@SarahKite I'm also very thankful my work still has an everyone mask policy.
@SarahKite no, but I live in a place where there are less people. The people I am around generally don't travel, etc. Not saying that's a bad thing. I totally understand. I would do that in a city.
@SarahKite
Still masking when I can't just avoid people... and I'm also still wearing one of those mask thingies on my face for covid and flu.
@SarahKite in the last week I've noticed more and more maskers & I'm in L.A.
@SarahKite Always. I care for my 88yo Mom. Prime directive in my house has been to protect her. We never go to restaurants, movies, etc. Went to concerts in outdoor stadium over the summer, masked. It was great to get out. Yes i miss stuff but protecting Mom's (and our and public) health is way more important.
@MyDogIsFunny 100%, thank you for your caring consideration! I wish more people would think of others who are vulnerable in our society. 🙏
@MyDogIsFunny There’s a lot of us approaching COVID the same as you & to protect our family members. Thanks for posting. Glad you have your mama!
@MyDogIsFunny @SarahKite I am in the same situation with my mom and it is frustrating when friends want to go to an indoor restaurant. My uncle caught COVID and he now has damaged kidneys. #maskup

@SarahKite I mask all over, at the store, at the post office, anywhere public. I do so because the disease is still here, I am older and vulnerable and because my oldest daughter, once a performing musician, is still struggling after 33 months.

This is not a disease to fuck with. It did not go away. It is still killing people. It is still messing with people's bodies.

We should mask to respect others. To protect others. And to protect ourselves. It's really not that great a hardship.

@SarahKite hubby and I were the only ones at my kid’s sport event tonight. And one official.
@SarahKite I watch the Community Spread and if it's < 50 we don't; > 100 we do; and in between we worry...
