dougal@dougal @richdmay @djlink it is pretty cool! Even starting from my local timeline, after one or two boost hops I see more "foreign" instances in the usernames than ones from my home instance.
It makes running into someone from the same instance as me "out here" in the rest of the #fediverse feel rare and kind of special.

AshStrangely, I can see this post, but the actual statistics of the poll don't seem to have made it across like polls I get from other users.

@Ash ohhh so prob just the servers propagating the info, interesting. or maybe the server I'm at is just slow, but I haven't noticed issues so far using.

This is a pretty good experiment to show that a post that gets attention, engagement, and boosts can hit quite a few people, which is counter to the narrative that Mastodon & its servers don't have the reach that some people are looking for.
And, it probably doesn't, if a post is just self-promo, uninteresting, or begging for attention that may have worked on other platforms. However, people found this interesting, and it has gone all over the place. Hello from Mas.to.
The Spoonless Kitchen@djlink Why are you concerned about "reach" though? That's the mindset that made the other site the craptastic utter failure at human decency that it is.
@thespoonless not a concern and more of a curiosity, when I joined mastodon I knew so little that I though it was confined to each server and it wasn’t a problem, mostly just a curiosity test.
