"autism" is not a disease, it does not have symptoms, it is not "treatable". No more than you can "treat" being gay. Being autistic is good and cool actually. Fuck anyone that would dare use that terminology against us.

@actuallyautistic #ActuallyAustitic

@RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic @gillianography Similarly ADHD - it's not ADHD, it's ADH, and continuing to add the D on to the end smacks of ableism
@simon @RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic yes disorder not good, possibly a ā€˜c’ for condition?

@gillianography @simon @RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic

Or maybe N for neurotype? So ASN and ADHN

@RosethornRangerTTV @gillianography @CGBrooding @actuallyautistic N and C are better than D, fersure, but I think we can collectively do better still! Might it be too bold to suggest A for Ability?

@simon @RosethornRangerTTV @gillianography @actuallyautistic

I like it

Although I don't have an ADHD neurotype, a complete name change is warranted when it comes to ADHD imho because the first D is deficit - boo

Autistic Voices United refers to ADHDers as 'Kinetics' and I think that's a step in the right (positive) direction

@CGBrooding @simon @RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic are we to be seen inferior to adhders?

@gillianography @simon @RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic

Not at all. I never implied that

I'm #ActuallyAutistic, as is my daughter, and ASD has never been my preferred terminology for either of us
