I'm not one for gimmicky wine but have to admit this Croatian wine, aged in the sea, was not only fun to open it was a decent wine. #wine #winelover #croatianwine
@sarahmayg That’s interesting! For no good reason whatsoever I’ve been thinking about getting a local lobster fisherman mate to drop some of my wines in one of his lobster pots.
The world may be most grateful if that’s where they stay but I’m kinda curious to know what the impact would be.
Was the closure wax sealed or something?

@sarahmayg The Greeks have been doing a lot of that. The first wave tended to be off of Santorini. Of course, the Greeks are always close to the sea! They had some good arguments as to why it protected the wine better and kept it fresher. Given the rationale for doing it, the final answer as to what it accomplishes would only, one would think, be clear after some 10 years of aging or so. The differences haven't been as dramatic when young, but differences tend to get greater with age. #wine #winesofgreece
@marksquires @sarahmayg Yeah, a guy in Genoa has been doing this for years. Something about the gentle current motion. There is a several year wait list just to get the opportunity to buy his wine. #wine
@dlupham @marksquires there is someone near me doing this in Lago di Nemi which was a sanctuary for the goddess Diana in Roman times.
