I spoke to Dril about Elon’s reign at Twitter, his thoughts on Twitter alternatives, freedom of speech, and his favorite moments on the platform https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/11/22/dril-musk-twitter-future/ #tech #technology #twitter #twittermigration #twittermigrate
Twitter king Dril on Musk’s chaotic reign

The ‘patron saint of the internet’ tells The Post he’ll never pay for verification but will learn to code if Musk offers him a job.

The Washington Post
@taylorlorenz I would go to any platform dril is on except Hive. I can feel their mean girl energy from all the way across the internet.
@djohngo oh you nailed exactly how I feel about it.
@taylorlorenz that must have been a surreal conversation
@taylorlorenz it's a funny interview but I'm a bit disappointed he didn't answer at least somewhat seriously.

@taylorlorenz reading the start, I thought he really was a Musk stan… but then reading the interview below I thought he was being insane and absurd and doesn’t believe in anything. Which… yeah, I should have seen that coming.

One thing I still feel ambivalent about is whether that’s good enough. Do you want someone to just be an absurd nihilist who makes fun of everything, or do you want to hold some values sacred?

@adanvers @taylorlorenz an absurd nihilist would probably say it's a pointless question
@Marthorse @taylorlorenz I mean, absurd nihilist is my take on the interview response—but it’s mostly just saying weird stuff to try to get a reaction. Idk if you have a better way to characterize it.
@adanvers @taylorlorenz I'd probably call him a disembler I guess. Either way I miss weird twitter
@taylorlorenz I always hear Hunter S. Thompson in my head as dril's voice when I read his posts. I hope the interview was as fun as it sounds on this side.
@taylorlorenz As far as I’m concerned we can stop talking about Twitter. I left it as soon as Elon asked the yellow-haired liar back to the platform, realizing it was lost forever. Twitter is dead for me, forever. So let’s talk about the better version, Mastodon.
@taylorlorenz I am questioning my entire existence having been on Twitter since 2007 and never heard of dril.

@mandahlane @taylorlorenz are you sure you *do* exist, if you don't know dril?

I guess there is life in deep volcanic undersea vents, so we can't rule anything out, but you might want to look into your "existence", a bit, it might be a bit wobbly!

@pbrane @taylorlorenz this actually made me log back in to see if i'd somehow managed to be blocked by this person.

Wobbly indeed!

@taylorlorenz lmao

channeling @qag

@Andres4NY @taylorlorenz Wow that's devoid of critical thought.
@qag @taylorlorenz He's being sarcastic (the entire rest of the interview makes that clear)
@Andres4NY @taylorlorenz There’s no way to tell reality from satire now.
@taylorlorenz This interview is fantastic. Absolutely nutso good.
@taylorlorenz I fav his tweets, you get pull quotes for a newspaper article. We are not the same.
@taylorlorenz I loved all his responses. Knowing too much about this person takes away all the fun.
@taylorlorenz As chaotic an interview as I would expect of dril. I can imagine talking to him felt as fever-dreamish as reading his tweets can be
@taylorlorenz “The show Westworld, that’s what it’s like out there.”
@taylorlorenz he is absolutely ridiculous and I appreciate that. He and Darth and @IamHappyToast (who's here!! 🥳🥳🥳) have always made the t'internet fun.
@taylorlorenz so I am supposed to have not just heard of this guy, but adore him? Thanks for letting me know, because I had no idea.
@taylorlorenz The quote about Mastodon isn't wrong. It took me a while to sign up, just because I was confused about how to join a server and what that would do.
