Do you feel like you can bring your authentic self to work? Do you feel like you can bring your authentic self to an interview? If you're part of the global majority, the answer is likely to be no, and corporate checkbox DEI strategies are not making things better.

@geekspertise For decades I had a work self and an "authentic" self I tried to keep separate. But eventually my work colleagues discovered bits of my other self, and they wanted more of that guy!
@geekspertise @Onemeatball I have never had the ability to be anything other than my actual self no matter where I am, but luckily that’s never cost me a position at a job. Helped me to earn a promotion once, though! Hahaha!
@Onemeatball Good on you and I hope your colleagues continue to support you! My experience as a #BlackWomaninTech is that companies ask you to show up authentically, but what they mean is to #assimilate and #integrate lest you cause discomfort to the dominant #caste. So you can be #authentic as long as you are striving towards modeling the behaviors of cishet white extroverted folks.
