For anyone who knows the situation in #Germany and can think straight for 1 minute, this is an obvious foot-gun on so many levels.
- Germany's society is aging, the financing of #socialsecurity is already on the verge of collapse. Every year, the workforce gets smaller. Every year, the number of pensioned people grows. Every year, the prices for social security increase. In order to keep the social security system alive at current quality levels, Germany needs to grow the workforce. Unless birthrates go up, the only way to achieve that is through #immigration. (And even if birthrates go up, the economic effect will only hit in 20-25 years.)
- Companies are already struggling to find (qualified) personnel. Reducing immigration is not going to help.
- Taking away help from immigrants to integrate into the German society *will* inevitably create problems for/by poor integration. This will benefit the populist extreme-right #fascist #Nazi-party #FckAfD in the mid-term future.
I'm really amazed at how "#conservatives" can aim so hard at their own foot without even realising.

(Don't read this as a defence of Musk, he's a turd, but SpaceX has competent technical people below their chimpanzee-on-a-string PR person)
NASA's traditional approach was to basically achieve perfection of design and manufacturing before trying to launch anything. Look at every possible failure mode of every component, down to the tiniest screw or wire or bit of plastic. Keep redesigning parts until you eliminate all failure modes that you don't have triply-redundant backups for. Test the living snot out of everything on the ground, in the lab. Have massive technical and safety reviews to ensure nothing was missed, anywhere.
It worked about as well as anything could, but it was extremely slow, bureaucratic, and above all incredibly expensive. Tons of rework when issues were found meant having to go back 3 steps to change something, and then redo the massive amount of work that had been done since then to make sure no new failure modes were possible, etc.
SpaceX is doing things differently - #iterative design. You design, build, #integrate, and #test-to-failure as often as possible to learn where the weak spots are -- you then rapidly iterate when you find the problems. "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly" is an expected part of the process - it's how you learn the limits of what you've built, where the problems are.
Neither one is "the right way". They both work.

Всем привет! Хочу поделиться своим опытом использования Python на этапах прототипирования RTL-модулей и последующей верификации. Как RTL-инженер, я часто создаю модели на Python для быстрой проверки логики и алгоритмов будущего RTL. Это подход уменьшает вероятность последующих правок в логике RTL в случае если алгоритм не подходит. Однако при переходе к тестированию на SystemVerilog всегда возникала проблема с переиспользованием написанной Python модели устройства: нужно было писать обвязку на C и использовать DPI-C интерфейсы, чтобы интегрировать Python-код модели в верификационную среду. Это занимало время и было неудобно. Недавно я открыл для себя библиотеку PyStim (Bind Python & SystemVerilog), которая кардинально упростила процесс. PyStim позволяет напрямую вызывать Python-методы и работать с Python-объектами из среды SystemVerilog без необходимости писать обвязку на C или использовать DPI-C . Это значительно снизило трудозатраты и ускорило адаптацию уже готового Python-кода в тестбенче.
