But the fix was easy. I replaced the ROM chips with EPROMs and it booted up flawlessly

@Luca_FIRE Yeah, that was the video capture card that insisted on stretching the video to 16:9. Tried photographing the 1084 monitor, but that didn't really work out

@daputz It's a neat little machine. But I didn't really appreciate it at that time. In my eyes my parents had made a terrible mistake. Everybody had a C64. How was I supposed to get any software? A year or two later I finally got my C64

To be honest, I think they did make a terrible mistake 😅
The C64 was still better than than the Plus4 despite being older.
I had an Oric-1 which was also a terrible mistake but it was the best we could afford.
One good thing about not having much software was the incentive to make my own. Turned out I really loved to code!

Scott Williams 🐧@martin I'm guessing what makes it "Plus" is having four arrow keys instead of two.
root42@martin @Wintermute_BBS I love the design. I "only" have an upgraded C16, but the Plus/4 is definitely a machine I would love to own, simply for Ira Valensky's design.

engtao@martin I always wanted one of these as a kid, because of the nicer keys than the 64 and the fact that it had a built-in machine-code monitor.
