Welcome to America, where “pro-life Republicans” spout hateful rhetoric and advance legislation that leads to senseless acts of violence against the LGBTQ community.
It doesn’t have to be this way.

@rbreich
No it does not have to be this way.
I find hate speech the disease of the age.
I have several friends that live in Canada. The situation is a lot more tolerable there than here.
@rbreich --> If #Democrats learn how to use Republican messaging methods (but for the good), they would attack Republicans 24/7, 365 days a year, blaming them for every single mass shooting in America. Let Republicans spend all their time crying "2nd Amendment!!!" while Democrats keep saying: "Your politics murders people".
cc @jentaub
Well before the midterm elections, I widely circulated an email to many important national Democrats urging five lines of action, one of them being to go after Right Wing Republicans for being soft on gun crimes, soft on mass shootings, soft on Right Wing militias, and so forth. I saw no evidence that anyone at all paid any attention to any of my ideas.
@tribeofjesse @rbreich @jentaub But the message should be harsher: Republicans are not "soft" on anything: Republicans are INTENTIONALLY ENABLING the murder of Americans, they are doing it for profit & power, and they are lying about it to voters.
Democratic messaging typically: Telling a long, confusing truth.
Republican messaging typically: Telling short, easy to understand lies.
And that must change.
Here's a line I kept repeating before the midterms:
Republicans are killing Americans.
@Devilstower @rbreich @jentaub Indeed, Republicans have a structural advantage in the shape Fox "News", Facebook, and every other media outlet (e.g. right wing podcasts), all reinforcing this closed loop of right wing propaganda for power & money.
But that's part of the same problem: Dems are not good at using (or creating) tools to convey a message effectively.
I do insist though, Dems main problem is MESSAGE & DELIVERY. Not lack of media tools.
Want proof? Barack Obama. Josh Shapiro.
@OldGlory @rbreich Specifically, Republicans have been whipping their base into a frenzy about drag queens "grooming" children (into what is never specified, because the vaguer the threat the better) by reading them stories. This has culminated in the terrorist attack on a drag event in Colorado Springs.
Specific enough for you?
@rbreich They are not pro-life if they are pro-abuse against others
Pro-life is such a senseless moniker
And where they just can't love capital punishment enough. Why one would almost think they weren't really "pro life" at all!@rbreich I live in Colorado Springs. The anti-LGBTQ rhetoric has been excessively ramped up lately — especially at school board meetings. Many public figures who have espoused anti-LGBTQ sentiments offered their condolences without directly mentioning the LGBTQ community.
Words matter. The LGBTQ community deserves to be acknowledged, respected, valued, and protected.
And, it needs to be widely known that unarmed members of that community subdued the shooter.
