OldandCranky@mogeauxs this is way too confusing for me. Im not sure all these separate servers is a thing that can work with millions of folks wanting to connect. I don’t get it.
Vint Prox@Oldandcranky @mogeauxs it is only natural to be confused of it, but that's just a thing that happens on the traffic waves for sites that were not originally planned to do load balancing. Previous noticeable example for me was the downtime of Itch.io when multiple indie developers submitted their games for the largest game jam in the decade.
I believe everything's in works to make Mastodon more resilient to such sparks of popularity in future. It will take some time if we don't want a mess. 😉
