This is why a browser ad-blocker add-on has been my friend for years. I use Edge now and I don't see ads anywhere. The Android app has ads which annoy the crap out of me.

Michael Greenberg@mollyjongfast My wife is trying to delete her account this morning now that Darth Combover has been reinstated. The iOS app won’t permit her to delete her account and she’s unable to log in via the web site. Luckily, I deleted mine as soon as EM seem poised to close the purchase.

BethSmore@lukmanohnz I was able to deactivate my account this morning on my iPhone. It’s a pain to find it, but possible, through account settings. Best of luck flipping the bird to the bird!
@lukmanohnz oh, and do debirdify first to take your followers and followed with you The app searches for Masto handles - edit your profile to include yours first, export the follower/followed list, import the file to Masto, then deactivate. It’s clunky, but it works.
