through meeting #Anglican s of #twexodus I discovered the #lectionary Soemthing I've not encountered as a #baptist. Considering drawing to it as part of #Fedichurch as it seems to be a global and cross denominational.
@Aslanmane so how to do select your readings for services without a lectionary? The advantage of a #Lectionary is that I can’t always pick my favourite texts or avoid those that are challenging to preach on. I follow the lectionary and take the rough with the smooth.
@Jimothy There's usually an opening passage at the start of the service which is selected by the person in charge of the order of service. The sermon, passage and worship music are usually related.
Our pastor has been preaching through the sermon on the Mount.which means he's been preaching on sexuality recently (Adultery and Divorce) January is set aside for 5 psalms. The liturgical calendar is only recognised during Easter and advent. Lent isn't a thing.
Baptist churches vary though. I know one that has a high church approach. We are federated.
@Aslanmane thank you
