@FairytalesFood what will be the real challenge initially is raising donations to pay for it, it ain’t cheap. :)
@Wihtlore I imagine not and the problem will be consistency of payments too. Maybe you need the equivalent of an online cake sale to raise enough to keep it going whilst people acclimatise to the fact that in order to have a wonderful community there needs to be a way to pay for that privilege.

I was thinking of putting up a patreon to raise money at some stage, but I wasn’t sure what I could to as bonuses for people. I need to think it through a little.
I’ve never charged anyone for my work or what I do, it feels alien and wrong to me. But then again there is only so much I can afford to do for free when it comes to running a #Mastodon instance

@Wihtlore The reward could be that everyone has a stable, well moderated instance. 😂Also perhaps consider it not charging for your work but taking contributions towards a community.

Of course, you could just ignore me, and go for "folklo.re"? Except it's already registered. Dammit.
@KryptykPhysh Yeah I get what you mean and it would have been nice to have ben able to for folklorist.re -- to be honest I tried every permeation to come up with something I liked when picking a domain.
The reason I went with cafe, instead of .fan was because I want it to feel like a place for people in the folklore community to come and be welcomed like a warm cozy cafe.
