If you're new to #Mastodon, two tips: first, do an #Introduction post, it will help some people find you. Second, make sure your profile is complete (avatar, bio, a few links), you're more likely to get follow backs if you do that.

Also, #Hashtags are important. They control all searches. #feditips
Also, new people on Mastodon, remember that you can follow anyone on any instance. You aren't limited to the people that are on the instance you joined. This is the biggest misconception that I see.
@thelinuxcast it’s weird that when looking at a persons followers I can only see the ones in common with my server. Would make building communities faster if that listed everyone.
@NeuroSpark If you select "Browse More on the original profile," you can see all of them.
@thelinuxcast @NeuroSpark I’m not seeing that option at all. I’m using the app, on iOS. Am I doing something wrong?

@genwilliams @thelinuxcast @NeuroSpark Don’t think of it as “the” app. It just happens to be the app branded as official. There are a bunch of different ones. And they all have to be updated to take advantage of the main code as it updates. Twitter used to have this as well until the pre-Musk owners shut all the clients down.

So that’s my way of saying, when in doubt do it in a web browser as that will likely be ahead of whatever is going on in an app.
