Neuroinflamation via the 😔 microglia cells hypothesis:
In #ME|CFS & #LongCOVID
these cells become hypersensitive & hyper activated & it takes very little to
set them off.
Even the tiniest activity leads to a cytokine stormāž”ļø hyper-inflammation āž”ļøstate of chronic sickness.
Also,
Activation of hypothalamus (brain’s innate immune sys. temp control etc.) can trigger cytokines ā¬†ļø inflammatory molecules via infection, toxins, stress, temp fluctuations- Jarred Younger

@RpkSnyder thank you for this. I’m a long termer MECFS (30 years) and every new doctor, I seem to have to explain this cycle.

If there is any silver lining in this dreadful pandemic, and the increasing prevalence of Long Covid, it may be that research into chronic illness and these pathways finally moves forwards, and society as a whole recognises the disabling nature of these diseases.

@Wonderdog @RpkSnyder I've often said the same thing. As people study long covid there seems to be some positive news for chronic illness treatments, too.
