@kathygriffin When project mushroom gets going, a brilliant thing they could do for the planet would be to start a weather channel backed by climate science
@kathygriffin slightly off topic — but I can highly (!) recommend https://weather.us/
The website was built by a European Company ("Kachelmannwetter"/Switzerland).
So far, it had by far the best weather models I encountered.

btw:
Here's the weather forecast for Mastodon, Dona Ana County, New Mexico
https://weather.us/weather/5478230-mastodon
@kathygriffin It's quite a new Mastodon Server. It's administrated by famous (here in Europe) Weatherman @kachelmann
You can see some Profiles to follow here: https://meteo.social/explore
It's mainly German right now - but hope that will change soon.
Enjoy
Maybe deliver automated weather updates trough your own instance @kachelmann ?@kathygriffin @monkee that's a separate instance from the one you are on now, so if you want to log in there too, you'll need to make another account, local to meteo.social.
Alternatively, open the profile directory there to find some German weather enthusiasts to follow: https://meteo.social/explore
@kathygriffin
Weather Underground is pretty cool.for local info.
@Blueskyfox That was the best version. 🙂

@kathygriffin I never checked weather on twitter.
Weather Underground is a good go-to. For sailing weather I'd check PredictWind.com
@caffeneko @kathygriffin When I lived on a boat I got pretty crazy about weather, but most people on land don't roll that way.
I've got a few sailing buddies on Facebook that are weather nuts, one guy does weather routing for offshore racers as a side job. So he's VERY informative.
Haven't found any on Twitter, but I'm a lot less weather-focused now that I'm off the water.
This is starting to get exciting. We weather junkies have been missing you guys.
@kathygriffin
1st: So glad to see you here! 🙂
Regarding weather, have you considered just using Weather Underground, The Weather Channel or other phone apps? I play outside a lot and absolutely live by their, very accurate, "pushed" microclimate/weather updates. Just a thought...
@kathygriffin Not yet in Mastodon but your tax dollars pay for the National Weather Service you can save a link to your local weather (or any US location) to your desktop as an icon.
— Go to https://www.weather.gov/
— Type in zip code or city/state and search for the location for which you want a forecast
— Once you've opened the desired forecast page in your browser, bookmark it
— Save bookmark to your desktop for easy access
Bonus: no spying on your personal data.
Hope this helps!
