Project Include is working on a blogpost/articles on nonbinary workers and on transgender workers in tech. We are looking for resources we can highlight, and experts and workers we can interview. We're eager to get many perspectives of people from a diverse set of backgrounds. We are willing to pay people for their time, too. Please reach out if you have ideas or can otherwise help!
Our piece will cover intersectional issues; if you know of Black or Latinx or Indigeonous transgender and/or nonbinary workers in tech who might be interested in talking with us, please reach out
@ekp that's, like, almost the entirety of fedi before the recent wave, you'll have no issue finding people in here (rather on convincing them)
@ekp that's pretty much most of the fediverse - you just reached out to your target audience by posting here.
@ekp Great! I want to share this with some groups. What's the best way for trans people in tech to respond?
@ekp Hey Ellen!! I'm up for chatting!

@ekp I just recently ended my twenty-plus year career in software development. I am trans, nonbinary (although I prefer the term "gender expansive" for reasons I'm happy to get into), autistic, invisibly disabled, Sapphic, and non-monogamous (another terminology rant I'd happily give).

My career included over a decade in leadership and management positions; at one point I was the head of engineering for a company with about 400 employees, directly overseeing a staff of about 30 programmers. I came out as trans just over 3 years ago.

I have spoken and written about why I left the tech sector openly, and would be glad to pass along those writings. There is much to explore in that story.

Lastly I'll echo the requests of others for a good way to get in touch outside the Fediverse; I know some people who may be very interested in talking to you as well.

@ekp I am an Indigeonous nonbinary queer person who has worked in tech for around 15 years or so. I'm open to chatting.
@ekp how do we reach out?
@ekp happy to help in any way I can (transwoman in tech here)
@ekp if you consider animation as a part of tech, I would be interested in such things here.
@ekp Sooo still a bit of a baby trans, but happy to offer my perspective/story. Came out as trans while a Sr. Eng Manager at a ~150 person startup.
@ekp What is the best way for people to reach out? I would like to share this with some of my coworkers.

@ekp

I’d be happy to help y’all out, but I’d like to do a bit of homework on your org first to make sure you’re legit. Is it this project include?

@ekp

Howdy Ellen, that helped a lot. Thanks for giving me some time to look into it and also to check with my network. My girlfriend made fun of me for not knowing you by name, lol. (We’re both in tech)

Anyway, if you’re still looking for participants I’d be happy to lend a hand. I’m out of the office til the New Year so my schedules pretty open til then.

Take care!

@ekp @luzifuchs do you know if Smi is on here? Might be something for them. 😊
@nice2meatu @ekp Not that I know of yet! 🫠 But I’m sure she will join sometime soon.
