@paulkatz I have yet to see #Bros and I’m not convinced I’ll be able to stick with with it if I do. I’m not a great fan of the “gay rom-com” genre, slim as it is.

Although I haven’t see it I think I understand a lot of your points. I wonder how you feel about something like #Hearstopper? This pushes the envelope back to 15 year olds and sex isn’t even an issue - it’s all about falling in love.

I LOVED #Heartstopper!

Charlie's story is a strange hybrid of what I actually felt/experienced in high school from '86 to '88, & things I *wish* had happened.

The series title is appropriate! Today's #gay youth are so fortunate that a #series like this even exists.

The characters get to experience something I never did: teenaged first #love discovery.

I think missing out on that type of formative experience is why I'm a little empty in the #romantic love department.

But related to #Bros, another #YA work #DanteAndAristotle the YA novel by #BenjaminAlireSaenz has a movie adaptation that was released at #TIFF in September. It still lacks distribution and I think it is because of the negative reception of #Bros that no one wants to pick up another gay movie. The movie got great reviews at #TIFF and book is on another level from #AliceOseman. He’s a poet and his writing (first person) is lyrical and breathtaking.
