BoudThe relation between #Wikidata and #Wikipedia still seems to be very much open to seeing what can or should evolve.
The tricky question is whether or not researchers are [[WP:NOTABLE]], with the risk of [[WP:ABOUTME]].
From an epistemological point of view, given that the most solid sources for Wikipedia are research articles, it would seem that it would be good to know about the researchers who obtain that knowledge. Rather than just film stars, singers, reality show celebrities...

I imported these to #Wikidata, we're now over 1200 researchers with a #Mastodon handle.
I wonder whether it's ok to scrape e.g. https://fediscience.org/explore and feed the profiles it into #OpenRefine for reconciliation with ORCIDs and Q-ids. Disambiguation might be hard.

ChemBob@nemobis what does one need to do to get added to wikidata? Don鈥檛 see a way on my iPhone.
@ChemBob Mobile editing for Wikidata is probably an excruciating experience, I wouldn't recommend it.
You should probably register first (just login with your Wikimedia/Wikipedia account if you have one), then see https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:Items#Creating_a_new_item
Try a search first, there is probably at least some of your publications already.

@nemobis how does it identify researchers?
@Amandatron89 By their having an ORCID, which is a reasonably proxy. (Most people with an ORCID on Wikidata were imported because their papers were also imported.) You can also filter by profession.

@Amandatron89 Wikidata has some works in your (?) name like https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q64443894 so I created https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q115193748 and now from https://author-disambiguator.toolforge.org/names_oauth.php?precise=0&name=Amanda+Warr&doit=Look+for+author&limit=500&filter= it's possible to link the works to the author.

@nemobis is there a way to add a twitter handle to that? I'm looking at it now and can't see a way to edit identifiers. Not that I expect Twitter to be around by the end of the year 馃槄

@Depemig Thanks for asking, I realised later it was confusing. I mean a handle as in address, identifier. A statement for the Wikidata property called #P4033 "Mastodon address" https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P4033 . With URL vs. username vs. ID vs. other things it gets confusing.
