Cold War Steve
I’ve been busy last few days so haven’t explored Mastodon properly. Sorry if I haven’t yet replied to comments or followed back - but I will! First impressions are that it’s a much kinder, less toxic site than the other place.
The petulant, narcissistic manchild appears to have destroyed Twitter, which is really sad. It’s a relief and very comforting therefore, that I can see so many Twitter friends have made the move over.

This is worth repeating - Emma's relentless reposting on here has been extremely helpful in getting a grip on all things Mastadon.
And, as everyone is saying, it's all very pleasant. I wonder if, in the long run, Musk hasn't done us all a massive favour.

@coldwarsteve Twitter was the people who tweeted and the staff who made the thing work . Upsetting both groups is spectacularly unwise and now that so many are discovering that Mastodon is a friendlier and more civilised medium Mr Musk will have to demonstrate real business acumen to save his arse

1.) Follow @feditips and @FediFollows to learn the platform and meet more people.
2.) Use Debirdify to scrape your Twitter account and give you an importable list of anyone you followed over there who already has a Mastodon account:

@coldwarsteve as a child of the 70s&80s, times were tough, but people were mostly respectful towards conflicting views & opinions. Today, it sadly cannot be said in Gov/ MSM or social media. Let’s hope platforms like this can take us in a more tolerant direction.
