My fellow #Twitter escapees, here’s a #MastodonTip: please consider not being “clever” with #hashtags here. When you don’t have an algorithm spreading your content to non-followers, it’s hashtags that help those strangers discover how awesome you are. Also, try using that search box to search for hashtags. Ask yourself, “Would someone type this made-up word to find my post?” #Taxonomy matters!
@spdustin Wondering if there are plans to allow browsing of a listing of #hashtags in use (with counts)?

@asawusch My instinct is split between “no” and “probably not.” Mastodon's culture is very pro-privacy and anti-scraping. Mastodon does have an API for returning search results—which includes hashtags and counts. I suspect scripting that to capture a list of hashtags and their usage seems like it would be incompatible with the culture here (not to mention tax the volunteers' server resources), and would bring on a ban pretty quickly.

Outright _showing_ a complete list probably won't happen.
