Acute and postacute sequelae associated with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection - Nature Medicine

A new analysis using US Department of Veterans Affairs databases showed that reinfection is associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality, hospitalization and a wide range of long COVID complications in individuals who have had SARS-CoV-2 compared to those with no reinfection.

I'm still baffled why we entirely wrote off the concept of passive non-pharmaceutical methods (filtration, ventilation, etc) and put all our eggs in the "vaccination and medications" basket.

What might go unnoticed is that the axes of the charts are on a log scale, so that small difference in bar length represent large difference in outcomes. From the bar lengths the increased risk looks linear with number of infections, but that means it grows actually exponentially larger

In 2021, life expectancies returned to pre-pandemic levels in parts of western Europe but further worsened in eastern Europe, the United States and Chile. Life expectancy deficits were negatively correlated with vaccine uptake in later 2021.

@erictopol the economy and collapsing democracy are also bad for your health. perhaps the people who are most prone to getting reinfected are service workers and people who work demanding jobs that are slowly killing themselves from overwork and stress.
