I'm still baffled why we entirely wrote off the concept of passive non-pharmaceutical methods (filtration, ventilation, etc) and put all our eggs in the "vaccination and medications" basket.
What might go unnoticed is that the axes of the charts are on a log scale, so that small difference in bar length represent large difference in outcomes. From the bar lengths the increased risk looks linear with number of infections, but that means it grows actually exponentially larger
