👋 Here’s my #introduction. Been studying #welsh for a couple of years and learning slowly. Wish I could live in #Wales but for now I am in Denver CO. Scholar, academic, writer, wife, Ph.D. in #ethics, interested in #history, #sports, #comics, and #gettingolder. Lifelong American yet also British citizen, Grandfather came from Neath. It’s a strong connection. I am so glad to be here and looking forward to learning. Maybe even reading toots in #cymraeg! Getting current on #cymru news.
@eirwenes Croeso yma! I am Cymraeg learner living somewhere else as well – I have no connection to Wales at all but for some reason I really love Wales and everything Welsh. Hope you'll like it here. 😊
@xsi Diolch, Sona! I don’t have a tilde; I am sorry! I appreciate your warm welcome and it’s great to meet another Welsh language learner!
@xsi Sona I got my glasses on and I see that’s not a tilde. I am sorry I misspoke! My husband’s last name is Slovak, by the way. Neither of us have been there. 🙀
@eirwenes Oh it's completely okay, we have some special signs in our alphabet and it's not easy to type it on other than Czech keyboard. 🙂 Especially ň, it's not even there and I've already met some people who couldn't deal with it here in Czechia. 😀 My last name is actually Slovak too, my grandfather is from Slovakia, so say hi to your husband and maybe visit our region someday – Slovakia has lovely mountains and Czechia has a lot to offer as well. 😊
@xsi Until I composed my message to you, I hadn’t realized how much I long to visit there with him. Something he and I need to talk about soon! Thanks for understanding my gaffe. 😺

@eirwenes Croeso, Eirwenes 😊 Dw i'n dysgu Cymraeg hefyd, a dw i ddim yn byw yng Nghymru chwaith. Am iaith hyfryd a diddorol, mae mor hwyl ei dysgu hi!

#DysguCymraeg

@janmakarta Prynhawn da, Janmakarta! I am extremely excited to report that I could read all but the last sentence of your warm greeting! A successful beginning, diolch! #DysguCymreag

@eirwenes Noswaith dda Eirwenes! What I *hoped* I said was: "What a lovely language, it's such fun to learn".
Especially in these troubled times - it feels like a haven of peace!
May I ask how long you've been learning Welsh?

#DysguCymraeg

@janmakarta @eirwenes started last year but my 56 year old brain isn't as nimble as it was.
@janmakarta I am sure that’s what you said! Respect! I am learning slowly. I don’t have the time, although that’s all changing. #TootWales came along at just the right time for me, since I am going to be more free come the new year! I am so lucky to have found this community! I have learned Spanish, German, French, Persian, and the rudiments of Arabic and Portuguese, but don’t speak any of them. I’m just fascinated by language. #Cymraeg is different. I would like to speak it! #DysguCymraeg
@eirwenes hapus i sgwrsio cymraeg yn Denver!
@yes_cymru_Ankh That would be an absolute joy! I don’t know how to say anything so it would totally raise my game! Let’s plan something!
@eirwenes Dw i’n gweithio mewn y Tech Center ac yn byw ger Lafayette… happy to meet up for a coffee.
@yes_cymru_Ankh Dw i’n byw ger ynghanol Denver ac dw i’n gweithio gartref. Dw i’n dwlu ar coffi! How was that? Understandable, I hope! I don’t think I have ever written two whole sentences before! We have a lot of options for meeting. I can’t until after Thanksgiving. Do you have a favorite place/day/time of day?
@eirwenes Dw i’n deall eich cymraeg. Hapus i cwrdd amser cinio yn Starbucks yn y DTC neu downtown ar ol gwaith. Mae lan i chi ble a pryd.
@yes_cymru_Ankh Diolch yn fawr! Dw i'n deall eich cymraeg hefyd, after using Welsh to English on Google! 😂 Dw i eisiau cwrdd amser cinio yn y DTC. I will plan to contact you a day or so before Thanksgiving and we can choose a mutually good day in the week or two after. Will that work?
@eirwenes - bydd honna yn gweithio! Edrych ymlaen.
