If I am using the Mastodon app, where is the general feed for tabletop.social? Or is there a different app that’s possibly better?

I’m feeling every bit of 40 right now. “How does this thing work?”

The answer was to get another app. Just fyi. I bought the Toot! app because I don’t want to keep this as a website on my phone.
@travisdhill what do you think so far? I use Tusky on my Pixel, but installed Metatext on my iPad.
@dickieadams I like it. Has some cool graphical interfaces and allows you to see your local and federated communities. It’s better than the official app for certain.
@travisdhill Still on the hunt for an app that allows me to pin hashtags.
@travisdhill same! I am just trying the app out after adding the site to my Home Screen in iOS. That worked fairly well, except no notifications that I have noticed.
@travisdhill I've found the app lacking in that sense. On the web you can view 3 levels - people you follow, all people on the server, and all people the people you follow follow.
@travisdhill If you're using the official Mastodon mobile app, it's not there. For reasons of his own, the person in charge of Mastodon had decided he doesn't want that or other useful features present in the web app to be available to people. If you're using the web interface or some other app, look for a link called Local Timeline.
@travisdhill I had that problem too with the mastodon app on iPhone. There are other (I’ve heard better) apps, but if you just use safari/web version, the local feed actually shows up. There is a poll currently running about what is actually the best app for iPhone.

@travisdhill I'm using Amaroq (iOS) where the second button on the bottom lets you toggle between Federated and Local views. I'm really liking the Local view on this instance, all the best BG tweeps seem to be coming here.

(I already had that app installed from my first foray into Mastodon a couple years ago, there are probably better ones now. I should try some. 🤷‍♂️)

@travisdhill I think if you go to the magnifying glass and then over to the Community tab, it's the same as the Local timeline? I may be wrong.
@travisdhill every indication I've seen is to ditch the "official" app. On Android people like Tusky, I guess. I think there's a different favorite on iOS. I'm on the mathstodon.xyz server which has a custom feature for displaying LaTeX math code, so I just use the web link the instance installed on my phone, because none of the apps support that feature. I agree with those that said the web version is better than the official app... Seems like anything is better than the official app. 😀
