The biggest difference between Mastodon on the web and using an app is that there's an honest-to-god working EDIT button on the web version, (both on the phone and on desktop) while none of the apps I've seen offer that. As a clumsy typist and nervous reviser, the web version is definitely going to be my main way of posting.
@stevelieber I didn’t know that! Great information to have
@stevelieber Yeah, this is a relatively new feature that was only added to Mastodon recently. .Social has it because they have the most up-to-date code releases, but many instances (including my own) don't have that functionality yet. So it makes sense it hasn't made its way into all the apps yet! :)
@stevelieber This also depends on what instance you're signed up to—you and I have it because .social is the 'main' instance, maintained by Mastodon's creator. Other instances (and most apps) are doing their own thing, and are thus often behind the curve with new features. I do hope the official app gets the feature in short order, at least!
@stevelieber I don’t see that on Chrome on my iPhone.
@tymberdalton Hmm. I wonder if it depends on which server you're on? The edit button is available when I use Chrome on my phone to log on to mastodon.social, but I haven't tried signing up anywhere else to check.
@stevelieber server I amon does not have that option allowed.

@stevelieber I often post via App.

But when I notice a typo, I copy the URL of the post into the browser I use on my tablet.

@stevelieber more than one app offers "delete and retoot", which is an edit

On Tusky it's delete and redraft
