Is #Twitter doomed?

Here's a Victorian alarm clock which served as a “memento mori,” reminder of death, in the 19th century. It prompted people to think about the shortness of life. This incredible object is now housed at the Science Museum in London.

@DrLindseyFitzharris
Really happy to see you lead the charge Lindsay.
I've been looking into Mastodon for a while now, but couldn't find content to stick around for.
Now I sure can :)
@Mercival Where there are social networks, I'll be there ... lurking in the corner with my weird medical history. Welcome to Mastodon!

@DrLindseyFitzharris Fedi tip: posts mentioning potentially emotional/unwelcome topics (e.g., politics, death, twitter) work better with content warning (the CW button) to let people opt-in to read them.

See https://fedi.tips/staying-safe-on-mastodon/#UsingContentWarnings for more discussion

Happy tooting 💚

@DrLindseyFitzharris Love this item - and indeed the Science Museum more generally, though I've never seen this particular piece from their collections before! Thanks for sharing :)
@DrLindseyFitzharris I saw this clock just a couple of weeks ago, when I discovered the history of clocks gallery at the Science Museum. Slightly disappointed I couldn’t buy a replica in the gift shop.
@michellebirkby I feel like they are missing a trick by not selling replicas!
