Macro thought after few days - I don’t really see Mastodon as a Twitter substitute per se. I think there more than ok.

I think this community may shape up to be something different & I am curious about it enough that I have been coming back. Couldn’t say the same about some of the few other platforms that have popped up in recent years (ie clubhouse etc).

I appreciate the volunteers who are keeping this place. No doubt there will be bumps and hiccups. Ready to #persist through it. (1/)

BTW I am not leaving Twitter. I won’t delete my account there bc don’t want to completely cede turf to the right. That said I am going to dial my engagement down there a lot and if share original content or reflections this will be the place I go first because the values here so far sync up with mine. (2/end) #TwitterMigration
@murshedz Yes. And use Twitter to suggest them Mastodon. Will be a better use.
@murshedz Good way to do it. I’m keeping my account live there. Last thing I want is some schmuck taking my username. I still cross-post but from here, as it becomes my primary network.
@murshedz mastodon is not twitter, but let’s be honest, they’re close enough they’re what economists refer to as substitutes. People are going to come here, have choices, get into conversations, not be harassed and not go back. I don’t think that both twitter and mastodon can stay vibrant for long.

@AlexGizis should be interesting to see how it plays out. The way Twitter is shaping up I just don’t see how that place will be sustainable for the long term. I am still there to get news (but that will become a shaky proposition given what is unfolding from the right wing) and my sports related fix. But, I will probably check it less and less like I have done w Facebook in recent years.

As for this community interested to see how it handles the mass influx in coming days and weeks.
