New Era for DPS Family Town Ha...
New Era for DPS Family Town Hall 5/28 · Mobilize

After a historic school board election, our community has helped usher in leaders who are committed to working alongside DPS staff and families. For too long, parents and caregivers have raised concerns without clear pathways for change. But this moment marks the beginning of a new era—one where listening, collaboration, and shared decision-making are at the center. Join Durham For All on May 28 from 6–8 PM at the Hillandale Elementary Media Center for a community town hall with our newly elected school board members! This gathering is more than a meet and greet it’s a space for real conversation, where families and community members can speak directly with those in power, share their experiences, and be heard. Together, we’ll begin shaping what this next chapter looks like. Community members and parents will not only have the opportunity to voice concerns, but also to help identify meaningful and impactful next steps that can move our schools forward! These town halls we’re hosting are designed to center the voices of DPS families and build a stronger, more accountable relationship with our Board of Education. Come 15 minutes come early to get chance to meet other parents and get situated. We hope you’ll join us, bring your perspective, and help shape the future of our schools!

Southside-INDY Singing Resistance Songfest · Mobilize

This a local Indivisible event! It is a “Y'all Come” public event being held at Friedens United Church of Christ. Please make sure to enter using the north side door. We will gather in solidarity and spirit with the national Singing Resistance movement that began during the time of ICE operations in Minnesota earlier this year, and is now expanding to cities all across the United States including Indianapolis. Our goal is to practice easy-to-learn group songs for possible use at various resistance and protest locations in our area as called for. Previous singing experience is not necessary. If you have been looking for an opportunity to be heard in this way, THIS IS IT! While there will be no marching, placards, or long speeches at this indoor event, it will still be upbeat and energizing, as we give voice musically to the cherished American tradition of proclaiming “liberty and justice for all.” Come with friends, neighbors, and family members, and help spread this open invitation verbally and/or via your personal media connections. No pre-registration is required. We'll be sitting on folding chairs in a gym, so feel free to bring a more comfortable portable chair if you wish. No food or beverages will be available. ALL ARE WELCOME! “Strong movements are always filled with strong music.” Harry Belafonte *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
