Wolfgang Lucht@stux Yes, the fediverse needs to be a federation, not a few big fish (overtaxing resources there) and lots of small instances. Since that might not happen automatically, some such management might be needed. Interesting issue, not easy.
teledyn 𓂀I know it can be built by those with the resources and dev skills to compile it, but is there a 'simple' container distro for any of these?
I just wonder if folks might run more small instances if it was just a matter of a host name (even dynamic) and run the flatpak or whatever. Even an AWS image!
I confess, I looked at the install and thought, if anyone asks me to build one, I'll send them to @stux 😊
But if it was basically a network appliance...

@dawnerd awesome. once you get the hang of Mastodon, you will most likely not just not miss Twitter but see how good Mastodon's concept is in comparison. You can get basically all the good stuff from over there with admins and mods that actually care about their communities. And @stux is doing an exceptional job at keeping our "little" instance running and growing.

Chris Marrin@stux seems like the system should be able to do automatic load balancing. Why do I care which physical server I’m on if it’s all federated? Are some servers slower or more resource constrained than others? If so how would I know which is a “good” server to join?
