 mstdn.social is now officially 3 years old!  

On 1 November 2019 the server first came online and we have seen some huge users migrations!  

Today, after 3 years of being online and daily cared for we are home to 80 999 users who posted 5 519 824 posts

In the #Fediverse mstdn.social is connected to 14200 other instances  

Thank you for all the support and kindness over the years, you make it all worth so very much❤️

 Onto the next 3 years!

@stux Care you share some tips and tricks you've learned along the way for us smaller instances so we can learn from the mistakes you've already made and any growing pains you've experienced?

@stux Happy birthday. It's a real achievement and you should be proud. One pleasing difference I have noticed, in comparison to other social media platforms, is that images appear to be much higher resolution on here. I'm not sure why or whether it's my eyes playing tricks. Some groups don't seem to have migrated here yet e.g. #ComputerScienceEducators so I feel like a bit of a pioneer. That's nice too. It's like the old days 🙂

@stux I just joined and, the more I explore, learn and absorb the feel of the place, the more I LOVE it. It is so refreshing compared to other social media I've experienced. I think the difference is the fact that it's non-profit, decentralized and user-centric. It is sort of like the difference between banking in a bank versus in a credit union. Mastodon feels more like the latter, as it is, again, non-profit and owned by the people who use it. It just has a nice feel to it.

@stux I have a question how do I find people to follow and people are saying they add me but I have to except them .but I can't see anything to ok them. Plus my server doesn't allow me to add people on different servers very confusing.
