Felt a bit nostalgic yesterday evening. For newcomers to my profile or those who don't study those hashtags too closely, many of my earlier Pixelfed posts came from my BlackBerry Classic. Most are tagged with #shotonblackberry and #blackberryclassic . The Classic has a decent camera for close-up shots and it works well with the Open Camera App on F-Droid.

A Fond Farewell to BlackBerry 10

Some thoughts on the end of life of BlackBerry 10, my own BlackBerry Classic story, and the hopefully bright future of QWERTY phones.

The New Leaf Journal
Great! The best nostalgica is using the old equipment and avail onself of its specific advantages. My first steps in the word of smart(er) phones where made on QWERTZ keyboard - Samsung SGH-i780 and Nokia E5. Long time ago ...
@mstengel The Classic was my first smart phone... and I got it pretty late in 2016 (I don't really count BB Bold as a smartphone, but maybe it is). All my phones from about 2006 had keyboards. Fingers crossed for a keyboard comeback - there are some promising projects out there.
Great brand! Unfortunately, support is now being withdrawn. Or?
@[email protected] Indeed. BlackBerry dropped support for BB10. I think some of the Android-based BlackBerry phones still work, but I have never tried one.
Thanks a ton. Your pic reminded me my early experiences with the qwerty keyboard phones.. Nokie E62 and later a E5. It look like ages now.. I had really liked those phones..
@gopal Me too - I held out for a while. Every phone I used from about 2006 to March 2021 had a full keyboard. I think (and hope) that they'll make a comeback.
