So lange "westliche" und asiatische produzierende Firmen (Beispiele bei Smartphones: #Apple und #samsung ) mit ihrem Geld skrupellos den Konflikt schüren, um billig an wichtige Rohstoffe zu kommen (Coltan, Gold, Kobalt, ...), wird sich genau NICHTS ändern.
Und so lange die Käufer/innen diesen Aspekt ignorieren, haben die Firmen keinen Anlass, etwas zu verändern. Wir müssen mit den Füßen abstimmen und, bleiben wir mal beim Beispiel Smartphone, Geräte wählen, die

+ faire Rohstoffe verwenden (Konfliktmineralien vermeiden);
+ unter fairen Arbeitsbedingungen hergestellt werden;
+ modular und reparierbar, also nachhaltig konstruiert sind.

Stand heute kommen da nur #Fairphone, #Shiftphone und #Teracube in Frage.
Und natürlich lange nutzen.

Die Situation mit #Android ist durchwachsen, und reicht von

• "#SchinaSchrott mit werkseitiger #Malware die instant die eigene #SIM mittels #PremiumSMS leert" über
• "#Abandonware vor Verkaufsstart. Viel Spaß!" inklusive "Werksseitiger #Elektroschrott weil hoffnungslos veraltet" bis hin zu
• "Kaputtgeriegelte Highend-Geräte" sowie
• wenige "Geräte die nicht komplett für die Tonne sind" (#Fairphone und vielleicht noch #Teracube & #VollaPhone)…

Schlimmer finde ich nur #iOS oder gar #WindowsPhone seinerzeit… :vomit: :puke:

@anthropy @micr0 AFAICK the Apps by @e_mydata ain't specifically locked to their Services and you can much easier configure your own @nextcloud / #Nextcloud server instead.

• And even if not it's way easier to yeet them, put on @fdroidorg and get the official apps that way than it is to #degoogle #Fairphone|s.

I wished fairphone would make #eOS and #LineageOS the default and charge extra for #GooglePlay / #Google'd devices instead of the other way around.

• Sadly the only other #vendor that I know that has a device that isn't a #downgrade to my #Faprphone3plus is #Teracube with their #Teracube2e....

In fact I wish for #SmallerSmartphones instead of #Phablets.

I've decided to hold off on dropping 500USD on a 3-year old refurb and instead am dropping ~60USD on a new battery and toolkit for my OnePlus 6.

Unfortunately, it looks like replacement USB-C daughterboards for the 2e have been discontinued, in favor of Teracube's "new" 2s model (which has almost identical specs to the 2e, but completely incompatible internal hardware).

My 2e is four years old. I can't get parts for it anymore, despite the company's claim for promoting sustainability and repairability. 🤬
