More and more people is giving #HelixEditor a go and trying #neovim alternatives. Or #vscode and #zededitor alternatives for that matter. The biggest pain points for many that do, are the lack of extensions and “missing” features. At least when they compare Helix to what they are used to. Then there is the inversion of selection + action vs action + selection. Some time ago, as a long time #vi #vim neovim user, I wrote about my personal experiences and why I chose to stick with Helix. I never looked back and lived happily ever after. I hope this can help you too. https://funzen.xyz/blog/my-regular-ide/

So I heard some good things about the Zed code editor, and decided to install it. However, the terms of use (https://zed.dev/terms) and privacy policy (https://zed.dev/privacy-policy) are giving me bad vibes from a project that claims to be 'open source' (https://zed.dev/blog/zed-is-now-open-source). I'm not a legal expert, so perhaps I'm misreading the TOS, but something seems off.

Zed End User Terms - Zed — Love your editor again

Zed is a high-performance, multiplayer code editor from the creators of Atom and Tree-sitter.

@Taffer I would really recommend to try #zedEditor instead. I will stay in #emacs for sure, but I tried Zed for Go debugging, works very quick and have pretty good defaults

A reminder that you can disable most of the AI features on your Zed editor with disable_ai: true.
