Last night the boys and I cracked open two old laptops to do a RAM swap: taking some RAM from a newer Windoze machine with small hardware issues and adding it to an older Linux machine with more functional hardware. Buys my oldest some time: he'll use the older machine until he decides what he wants for a new one, if anything.

And now I've got a slightly defanged Windows machine (still 12 GB RAM) to experiment with. I've already run the debloat script and uninstalls.

Ajattelin eilen kirjoittaa omia vasemmistolaisia näkymyksiäni eri puolueiden kokouksista mitä nyt pyöri tässä männä päivinä...

25 maggio è la giornta del mitico Towel Day, ovvero la Giornata dell’Asciugamano dedicata allo scrittore Douglas Adams e alla sua folle e geniale saga della Guida galattica per gli autostoppisti. Towel Day: la festa dedicata al mitico asciugamano di Douglas Adams

La tradizione continua anche nel 2026 e, come ogni anno, migliaia di fan in tutto il mondo sfoggiano asciugamani colorati sulle spalle, in testa o nello zaino per omaggiare l’autore britannico e ricordare che “l’asciugamano è l’oggetto più utile che un autostoppista galattico possa avere”.

Ma quest’anno c’è anche una novità speciale: dal 23 al 25 maggio 2026 in Inghilterra è nato il primo grande DON’T PANIC Festival, evento dedicato all’universo creativo di Douglas Adams con parate, gare di cocktail galattici, poesia vogoniana, musica e perfino attività artistiche a tema spaziale.

Il bello del Towel Day è proprio questo: una festa nerd, ironica e completamente fuori dagli schemi, dove basta un semplice asciugamano per sentirsi parte di una gigantesca avventura interplanetaria. E chissà… magari oggi, uscendo di casa, incontrerete qualcuno con un telo sulle spalle. Nessun allarme: probabilmente sta solo cercando l’Autostop Galattico perfetto! 🚀🛸🧺
