2025 BL Universe Awards – Nominations
BL University is inspired by sites like Chill Chill in Japan and RidiBooks in Korea who ask their users every year what their favorite series and series' features are! We want to create a more inclusive BL Award system where all types of BL/MM/Gay romance from all over the world can be celebrated and highlighted each year. This year's timeline is as follows:
Nominations will open on January 4th and close on January 31st (four weeks).
After the nomination period, finalists will be selected and announced on February 15th.
The public will vote from the finalists until February 28th (two weeks).
The winners will be announced on March 15th.
Here are the qualifying rules:
For simplification, "BL" will be the term used to refer to the following: yaoi, shounen ai, tanbi, juné, gei comi, bara, boys love, gay romance, MM romance, danmei, y-series, and other queer media that has male-identifying characters and the romantic and/or sexual relationships between them. If the title meets this threshold, it is valid.
All nominations MUST pertain to titles released between January 1st to December 31st, 2025 (unless otherwise specified). This includes series that were released locally in your country, even if they were published in a previous year in their country of origin. This can ALSO include a sequel or follow-up volume, season, chapter, novel, or so forth. A broad selection of US-released titles can be found on our blog here.
Entries should include as much information as possible. In addition to (1) the name of the title, this may be (2a) the author, illustrator, director, or studio (whichever is applicable). The (2b) original language of the title alongside its known English one is also highly recommended, if applicable.
Entries may be deemed invalid if they (1) cannot be understood or differentiated from another series, (2) if they do not follow the year restriction, (3) if they are determined to be a joke/filler entry, or (4) determined to not be applicable to the category in question (such as a novel in the drama category when no adaptation exists).
You may submit one (1) nomination per category. If you try to submit others, only the first entry will count. You can nominate a series for multiple categories, so long as it is a valid entry! (See point #4.)
You may SKIP (leave blank) any category you don't feel strongly about. No nominations are mandatory.
Questions can be asked on our social media pages and we will make announcements of any clarifications there as well. Follow us anywhere for updates on the Awards!
Thank you for your valuable participation!
