Finally getting around to sharing more photos from the summer trip. This was one of the most common fruticose lichens we saw at each stop. Fairly certain it’s Letharia vulpina rather than L. columbiana since the apothecia were never present. Spotted this particular one on a post for the wooden boardwalk at West Thumb Geyser Basin around Yellowstone Lake.

Yellowstone’s scenery and wildlife were probably my favorite features. We saw countless bison and elk, and were lucky to see a few grizzly and black bears, coyote, and deer. The canyon, river, lake, and valleys offered such remarkable views. I especially love the different shades of green in the fifth photo. Can you spot the fumarole in that one?
