I shared some 80s era Startled Insects a while ago. There's also an interesting collaboration with the women from Propaganda that happened in the early to mid 90s that was aborted and later released in limited form. A kind of xPropaganda before its time. The band broke up shortly afterwards alongside Claudia Brucken's marriage to Paul Morley so it all got lost for a while. Great shame.

Between 1993 and 1995 Claudia Brucken & Susanne Freytag recorded a number of tracks together, 5 of them intended to become, what we’d now call, the first xPropaganda album. I’ve put them together to create a Claudia & Susanne album, named ‘The Naked State’ after the title given to the limited release of the 5 tracks. Here they are; 1. Light The Way – Claudia and Susanne’s first collaboration since Propaganda, under the band name ‘Chrome Seduction’ (which was Magnus Fiennes, an English composer, who is the brother of Joseph Fiennes and Ralph Fiennes). It was only released as vinyl 4 track 12” in ’93, though Claudia included the radio edit from it on her ‘Combined’ album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX4-tEaSGH0 and I’ve already posted up the 12” version ripped from vinyl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsLAah6gsFc . The other two tracks didn’t include Claudia’s or Susanne’s vocals. Next we have the 5 tracks from the unfinished collaboration between Claudia, Susanne and the Startled Insects (from the same UK Bristol scene as Massive Attack and Portishead). Band member Richard Grassby-Lewis, who did a limited CDr release of the tracks, stated; We (Startled Insects) worked with Claudia and Susanne in 94 / 95 and we only made the 5 tracks. I believe it was Paul Morley, who was Claudia's partner at the time, who suggested we work together. No other Propaganda members were involved. Claudia and Susanne wrote all the lyrics together. I think one of the reasons it didn't go any further was that Startled Insects broke up and also Claudia and Paul broke up right after we made these tracks so there wasn't anyone to take it forward. 2.
