Today we found two unopened cans of cocoa, both best before 2021, and a can of cocoa sooooo old that it didn’t have best before dates on it. I purchased the latter one from Mr. Grocer (which hasn’t existed since the 90’s) for $2.99! 😂🤦♀️
Memories of #KWAwesome #WRAwesome
In-camera council meetings, a secretive development on the waterfront and the murder of a town councillor with a commemorative brick. These are plot points in a new murder mystery novel called Bad Council. It’s written by a former Region of Waterloo councillor, Jane Mitchell. She spoke to CBC K-W's Aastha Shetty about the inspiration behind her book.
It's been brought to my attention that while #BuyNothing groups are pretty useful, they tend to exist mainly on Facebook. It'd be nice to have such a group for #WaterlooRegion here on the fedi as well.
I'd be happy to set one up, but if there's one that already exists, I'd rather use that than start from scratch. Is anyone aware of such a group here?

The Springbank Community Gardens at rare Charitable Research Reserve are a special space for those interested in growing their own fresh organic produce. Located within an ecological reserve, the gardens are a unique place where activities are done respectfully and with minimal impact on the environment and the creatures that reside there. We are a multicultural, multi-generational garden site, where the members share knowledge and build relationships in the name of education, responsible land stewardship and inclusion. We support diverse, inclusive, and equitable participation as we work toward meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples (self-identified and status First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) of Turtle Island. About this questionnaire: The gardens at rare Charitable Research Reserve are committed to providing a positive gardening experience to people of all racial identities, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability and economic status, and we recognize that historical and present-day barriers exist that disadvantage Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and other marginalized community members. The purpose of this questionnaire is to collect information that will help assign garden plots based on the members’ unique needs while helping to increase equity and reduce barriers.
