The Labour gov have allowed wood burning stoves to be permitted in new homes as a secondary heating source in the Future Homes and Buildings Standards. As an air quality scientist, this is appalling news. Smoke from stoves is a growing health hazard. But why did the UK gov make this decision? 🧵
syklistAfter even just a short winter it is nice to only have to light the kitchen range and one other wood burning stove in order to get our living space warmed up for breakfast.
In the cold parts of winter we need at least three stoves lit on this floor and then the fires need to be lit a half hour before everyone else wakes up. Or the kitchen is too cold.
If all goes to plan then we should have our new wood fired central heating system completed with radiators installed before next winter. When it is finished the house should be warm when I get up. Winter or summer.
