[P] Oh good. I just heard about Slop Trek: Year One and all I can wonder is what hellish realm of un-Trek-like xenophobia they'll take us to this time? "Did you hear? The tholians are trying to commit genocide against us poor Feds. They're nuking our colonies from orbit! Our tanned, yellow-haired fleet admkral has a plan to wipe them all out, though!" Ugh... I probably shouldn't give them ideas.

So apparently I can't do variable refresh rates over HDMI with my Nvidia RTX 3070 on Linux. It only "works" via DisplayPort. Works is in quotes because for some reason either this monitor is sending the wackest shit ever pretending to be an EDID header or Nvidia's drivers are well and truly fucked beyond recognition trying to boot with my monitor connected via DisplayPort results in the video signal getting cut off as soon as it tries to go up to 1920x1080. I thought this might just be a bug with the proprietary kernel drivers so I switched to the nvidia-open ones. Same problem. Thought maybe that turning off modesetting might fix it. It sort of does but then KDE loads at 1024x768 at 60 hertz, realizes that that makes no sense on a monitor that's ostensibly 1920x1080 at 165, tries to change to that mode, and the system hangs.
