#Journal of a Dutch AuDHD Pixy  (Tuesday, 19/05/2026).

We had a bit of a broken night, as Koa decided that going potty and doing everything was too easy… First, you go, you sniff and wee, and try to eat slugs. Then, you head back to your crate, get snacks, and you sleep a bit for 30 minutes. Then, you start whining again, because you do need to do a number two as well… So, we could head out again, just after I had dozed off. The good news is that his poops are better again now, so they’re easier to pick up, and less smelly as well. And then we went back to snooze for a while.

Around midnight, we started our “day”, and we did the usual things. I prepped the kibble, I grumbled a bit at the scale, well, at myself really, and I took my meds. I gave Koa his food, which made him a very happy pup. And then I got to the laptop, and I started to write my long email to my dear friend. After that, I started on the journal toot, and a Koa’s diary toot as well. A bit of work on my blog was done as well. I have all these ideas that I am working on, and it feels really good to be so active with them.

Koa went to the garden a few times. And when it was getting light out, we headed out for a walkies. Koa got all the sniffs and all that. After that, I made some food, and we relaxed for a while. Koa started to be his bitey self again, so I crated him for a bit. Bestie called me on her way to work. We had a nice chat, after which Koa and I got ready for a second walkies.

After that, we relaxed for a while. Koa ran around for a few minutes, happily with all his toys, before I had to crate him for a while, because he wanted to nibble on all the things that should not be nibbled on… The curtains, the skirting boards, the carpets, and the tables… Nope… Not going to happen. I watched some TV while I worked on a few blog posts, knowing I could relax because Koa was “stowed” in a safe place, haha.

When I wanted to get ready for walkies again, mum just texted me that she was already coming our way. So, I waited with Koa, and when she was almost at our place, we got ready to head out. We had a nice walk with mum, and then I prepared everything at home for her. Mum and I chatted for a while, and then I got ready to head to Cuijk.

I was a bit early, due to mum also being a bit earlier at my place, and they were able to make a little switch, so I could have my appointment a bit earlier too. Which was very nice. After that good, and well needed, massage, I headed to Lidl, before heading back home again. When I got back, I cleaned up the groceries, while mum told me all about Koa, and her bleeding bits on her fingers due to his sharp teeth… I offered a bandage, but it would not be easy to get it right, so mum used a tissue instead.

I fixed food for Koa, and mum went home. Then, I fixed food for myself. Koa and I went out for walkies after that, and then we relaxed for a bit. I was rather tired, so when I saw there was rain coming, Koa and I went out for walkies a half hour earlier, so we’d have dry walkies. I prepped everything for bed, and then, we went to snooze.

Koa protested a bit, and then dozed off. He managed 5 hours, give or take a bit, before he wanted out again. Unfortunately, he did the same thing again. He peed, got his sniffs in, headed back to bed. And half an hour, he was whining again. But, he didn’t do a number two when we went out. He did enjoy some water and a little extra snack, and then he dozed off again for a little over two hours. Then, he decided it was time to get up. So, a bit grouchy as I was still tired, we got up, and we started our “day”.

Thanks to all for your kindness and support during my "journey through daily life"  I really appreciate it 💜 as it helps me to keep going on bad/harder days!

#Journal of an excited Dutch AuDHD Pixy  (Monday, 18/05/2026).

Koa and I had a decent enough night, although he did wake me once “extra”, but I’d rather be warned than having to clean the crate. In total, I got about 7½ hours of sleep, but I would not have minded an extra hour or so. But, it wasn’t meant to be, so Koa and I got up, and we started our “day”. Well, I started it, as I prepped Koa’s meal, and I got to the scale, dressed, took my meds, and finished Koa’s kibble.

After his meal, Koa spent some time with me on the couch, until he got too bitey again. He went to the crate, and I wrote an email to a sweet friend. Then, I worked on my journal toot and my blog. Koa wanted out for a wee, and then he relaxed out of the crate for a while. I was able to finish up some work on a few blog posts, so that I have several ready now for sharing, and several that I have started writing, so that they can be finished up soon enough too. I created some images for the posts, the featured ones showing the title and all that.

I enjoyed my brekkie, and when it got light out, Koa and I went out for a short walk. We relaxed for a bit after that. Bestie called on her way to work, and we had a nice chat. When she arrived, I got a silly idea, and I texted my mum. She didn’t have any plans, so Koa and I would go to Nijmegen around ten, which would be Koa’s first solo traveling in the back of Skoosh, and then, we’d drive to the small woods together. They were small enough that Koa would be able to walk a round there, and not walk too long.

Around ten, I let Koa out, and then we headed to Skoosh. I made sure the hang mat was secure, so that Koa could not get off the couch in any way. He was wearing his harness, which was secured to a seatbelt as well. So, he should be safe in the back… I put him in, secured him, and he was looking around a bit, as he was used to my mum sitting next to him. I drove off, making sure I took the turns a bit easier than usual. I glanced around at times, and Koa was exploring everything. He put his nose between the chairs a few times, he tried to look out the windows, next to the little Minion sun shades I have in the back. He tried to nibble on some things, but all in all, he did great!

We arrived at my parent’s place, and Koa and Bas played for a while. Bas didn’t like it when Koa jumped up, even when he didn’t even touch Bas. But yeah, that’s what pups do a lot though… I tried to keep Koa as calm as I could, and when mum was ready, we went to Skoosh, and we drove to the woods. I parked Skoosh best I could, and we went to the entrance.

So many sniffs!!! I tried to take a little video at the beginning, showing Koa’s first experiences. And then I just enjoyed seeing Koa have a good time, and be watchful so he would not snack things he should not be snacking… We had a nice little walk, just long enough for Koa. We drive back to my parent’s place. As Koa didn’t want to get out of the car, I quickly got Bas inside, and took my things, while mum waited with Koa. Koa and I drove off back home. He whined a few times, and then I saw him snoozing with his head on the little “car giraffe” that my mum got him (so he could bite in that, instead of in her, or other things…).

We got back home, I fixed Koa his meal, and after that… He just dropped and snoozed! He was so tired, and it looked so sweet. I relaxed for a while as well. Then, we went for last walkies, and I prepped everything for bed. It took a little while for Koa to doze off, and after that, I managed to do the same.

After about 5 hours, Koa woke up for the loo. So, I did the same, haha. When I almost dozed off again, Koa woke me up, and I tried to ignore it. But, then I heard the different kind of whine, and we quickly went out again, where he did a big number 2. We went back to bed, and after two hours, he woke me up again. I saw the clock, told him it was too early, and we both dozed off again. An hour later, he woke me up again, and then we got up to start our “day”.

#Journal of a slightly tired but happy Dutch AuDHD Pixy  (Sunday, 17/05/2026).

Koa and I had a decent enough night. I had hoped to get at least an hour more sleep, but as Koa woke up for the first time after 5 hours (unfortunately, I had less than 5 hours of snoozing in then), and the second time after 4 hours… It was very good on his behalf. I just struggled more to snooze, and, according to my watch, I got about 7 hours in total. I had hoped to get up between 1-2am, as then we’d be slowly preparing for the schedule, when I will be able to head to the gym again. But, Koa had other ideas, and shortly after midnight, he needed out for potty break. His intestines struggled a bit with some meds I had given him earlier that day (or maybe he sneaked in something during walkies that I missed), so his poop was very stinkie and awful. My body was sore, and my stomach was upset, so after that bit, I decided to just get up and start our “day”. Koa is becoming a little vampire as well, hihi… (although he does sleep a lot during the night, while I work on my laptop and all that).

I prepared Koa’s food, got to the scale, dressed, took my meds, and then gave Koa his kibble. When he was finished, he slept on the couch with me for a while, while I wrote an email to a sweet friend. After a little while, Koa started to attack me and the couch pillows, so I crated him. He didn’t like it at first, but soon, he was snoozing away. I was able to finish the email, and I wrote my journal toot as well. I worked a bit on my blog, and then Koa woke up, and he wanted out.

I got the head lamp and all that, so we could go to the grassy area, and maybe get a little walk in. But, in the neighborhood, some people were still outside (maybe having a party in their garden, although it wasn’t too warm), and it scared Koa a bit. So, he wanted to head back home again ASAP. He played a bit with his toys, and when he started putting his teeth in places where they didn’t belong, I had to crate him again.

I worked on my blog for a while, and managed to get several posts lined up for the next few days. Which is always a good feeling, as I don’t always have time and energy (or inspiration) to write, so having a few advance ones ready, takes away the “pressure” to “need” to write. I have a huge daily posting streak, and I don’t want to break that, as I am rather proud of it. (currently the daily streak is at 2.162 days, which accounts for almost 6 years now… Well, about 5 years and 11 months, according to a website that does these calculations). According to that same site, when I get to 2.192 days, then I should be at around 6 years… So, I am getting really close to that, with only 30 more days to go! (ow I didn’t realize I was that close to it already, until I made the calculations).

After a little while, I made myself some brekkie. When I had finished that, Koa and I went out for another walk. Koa wanted a different, longer, one, so I followed him (up to a point, of course, as he is still limited to about 12 minutes max per walk, due to his age and bones). We got back, and Koa slept on the couch with me for a while, as I watched some TV. And I wrote a silly “Diary Toot” from Koa’s perspective, which was fun to do.

When Koa got more bitey again, I decided to offer him his “snuffelmat”, so he could use some of his energy on finding all the kibble. I tried to take a new video of him, as he is learning how to “best” get out all the kibble. It’s so cool to see him learn from something like this, which seems to silly at first, until you realize how much it can “help” a dog… After he had his little snack, he relaxed for a while. When he started to get too bitey again, it was time for some more crate time.

While I don’t like crating Koa, it does help him to settle down when he gets too excited, or too tired. And he usually protests just a short while, and then he lays himself down, and snoozes like a mad puppy, haha. While he was snoozing, I wrote a bit on Mastodon, while also watching a bit of telly. I fixed some food, and enjoyed that.

We went out for another walk, and Koa wanted a longer one again, so yay for that. After that, I fixed him his food. He snoozed for a while, and when he woke up, we went for a last walkies before bedtime. I prepared everything, and within a short while, Koa was snoozing away. It took me a little longer to doze off, so when Koa woke me up after he slept only two hours, I was a bit hazy. We went to the garden, he did his thing, and we went back to bed. About three hours later, he needed to go out again. Then, another three hours later, he was ready to get up.

I had hoped for about an hour or so of more sleep, but I guess this was as good as it was going to get. So, I got up, we went out to the garden, and we started our “day”.

Thanks to all for your kindness and support during my "journey through daily life"  I really appreciate it 💜 as it helps me to keep going on bad/harder days!

Good evening Squirrel Fans.

I had forgotten this quote, but it sums up my attitude to heights perfectly! :-

“It turned out that when Miss Level had asked Tiffany if she was scared of heights, it had been the wrong question. Tiffany was not afraid of heights at all. She could walk past tall trees without batting an eyelid. Looking up at huge towering mountains didn’t bother her a bit.
What she was afraid of, although she hadn’t realized it up until this point, was depths. She was afraid of dropping such a long way out of the sky that she’d have time to run out of breath screaming before hitting the rocks so hard that she’d turn to a sort of jelly and all her bones would break into dust. She was, in fact, afraid of the ground.”
Terry Pratchett — Hat Full of Sky.
