@pete_wright well WPEngine is not the old hosting company that deals in WordPress. GoDaddy has a sorted past and they were also a featured sponsor of WCUS but I don't recall Matt ever calling out other arms of GoDaddy. Again, WPEngine is just one of many, but then WPEngine doesn't really host anything other than WordPress either.

@pete_wright so, to be clear to all I'm not exactly promoting or defending WPEngine, actually I don't really promote any hosting company because they all have their pros/cons and fail to deliver at times.

Also his claims that somehow WPEngine price increases are unique to them are ridiculous, has he looked at our economy. Everyone is increasing their prices. Less expensive hosting doesn't equate to better quality either.

@ampersarnie well, Matt claims that it comes down to 5%, because of 5 for the Future, if he can't claim that Google is giving 5% which is way bigger than #WPEngine / #Sliverlake, and then turn around and bash WPEngine and praise Google in the same breath he's delusional. He probably knows that he will lose Google support for anything if he attacks them and he can't afford to do that.

Seriously, is #Google any less concerned about profits than Silverlake?

@ramonfincken yeah, but there are also people that do the same at #wpengine so how he can call out WPEngine for not contributing more but then praising #Google is a bunch of BS.
