According to the Guardian, #Meta is removing end-to-end encryption on #Instagram messages, imminently. This has been welcomed by child safety advocates (fair enough) and presumably criticised by privacy advocates (also fair enough). You'll still be able to use end-to-end encryption with #WhatsApp, if that's your thing.

Whatever your standpoint, it's inevitable that the contents of people's private messages will be monetised in some way, either through targeted advertising or through being used to train LLMs. Yet more #enshittification.

The solution is to free yourself from #BigTech, and use #XMPP, #Matrix, #DeltaChat or #Signal.
